After more than 20 years working on septic systems across Alabama, I have learned that the most expensive solution is not always the best one, and the first answer is not always the right one. Sometimes a failed system needs to be replaced. Sometimes it can be repaired. Sometimes difficult soil calls for an engineered system. And sometimes doing a little math before the job starts can save a homeowner a considerable amount of money.

That is why K & K Septic starts by looking at the property, understanding the problem, and figuring out what actually needs to be done.

Experience is not just knowing how to operate equipment or install a septic tank. It is knowing what will work, what will last, and when there is a better way to solve a problem.

Fayette · Septic installation

More Capacity for Less Money in Fayette

This five-bedroom home in Fayette needed a larger-capacity septic system with a pump system. The obvious solution would have been a single 1,500-gallon tank, but before ordering it, we looked at the numbers.

Two 1,000-gallon tanks gave the homeowner even more capacity while costing less than the single larger tank.

So that is what we installed.

A good septic installation is not about automatically choosing the most expensive component or doing something a certain way because that is how it has always been done. It is about looking at the entire system and finding the solution that works best for the property and the customer.

Saving the homeowner money while giving them more capacity was an easy decision.

Diagnosis & repair

Do You Need a New System — Or Just the Right Repair?

Not every septic problem needs a new septic system.

We have seen homeowners receive quotes for complete replacement systems when the real problem was much smaller. On one recent job, the system needed to be pumped and the impeller motor repaired. It did not need to be torn out and replaced.

That difference can mean thousands of dollars to a homeowner.

Our job is not to sell the biggest job we can. Our job is to figure out what is wrong and tell you what we believe it takes to fix it.

If repair makes sense, we will tell you. If replacement really is necessary, we will explain why. And if the problem is something we do not handle, we will do our best to point you toward someone who does.

That may not be complicated, but it is how I have built K & K Septic.

Northport · System installation

From a Failed System to Working Again Before Dinner

A homeowner in Northport had an old septic system that had finally failed. After a new percolation test confirmed what the property needed, our crew went to work.

We installed a new pump tank and pump, added 120 linear feet of field lines, and had the entire septic system operating again in about six hours.

This was one of those jobs where experience, preparation, and a good crew made all the difference. The homeowner started the day with a failed septic system and had a fully functioning system before dinner.

That is the Kyser Way: know what needs to be done, bring the right people and equipment, and get the customer back up and running.

Brookwood · Engineered system

Protecting an Engineered Septic System in Brookwood

An engineered septic system has components that need to keep working long after the installation crew leaves the property.

On this engineered system we installed in Brookwood, that included protecting the aerator equipment from Alabama weather. Instead of leaving the equipment exposed, we installed it inside a protective enclosure.

It is a small detail compared with the size of the entire septic system, but details like this matter. Protecting equipment from rain, sun, and the elements can help protect the investment the homeowner has already made in the system.

Installing a septic system correctly means thinking beyond the day it goes into the ground.

That is the Kyser Way.

Coker · Engineered system

Ground Won’t Perc? Don’t Panic.

Poor soil conditions do not automatically mean you cannot build on a property.

This project in Coker required an engineered septic system because the ground was not suitable for a conventional system. That is exactly the kind of property where experience with more advanced septic systems matters.

When soil conditions will not support a conventional drainfield, an engineer can design a system around the conditions of the site. K & K Septic specializes in installing engineered septic systems and has the Advanced Level II licensing and field experience required for this type of work.

So if you have been told your ground will not perc, do not assume the project is over. There may be another way to do it.

Finding that way is part of the Kyser Way.

Proven in the Field.

Every property is different. Soil conditions change. Systems fail for different reasons. New construction presents different challenges from repairs, and sometimes the best solution is one that was not obvious when the phone first rang.

That is where experience matters.
